What is an Infinity Pool or Infinity Swimming Pool, (also described elsewhere as a Wet Edge Pool or Negative Edge Pool)?

An Infinity Pool is a skillfully constructed, aesthetically pleasing, bespoke, Swimming Pool that appears to disappear into its surrounding landscape.

An Infinity Pool will appear to be missing a wall at one or more of its edge/s – the visually missing wall allows the pool’s water to calmly cascade over the edge/s creating an unrestricted, vantage viewpoint and infinitely flowing stream of water.

An Infinity Pool by Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London, and Kent will transform your minds-eye, creating a convincing optical illusion that there really is no separation between land and water.

With an Infinity Pool by Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London, and Kent you’ll submerge into tranquil waters whilst simultaneously experiencing the power of connection to the surrounding landscape, environment and/or vista.

These beautiful pools are not only a symbol of opulence just for the likes of Instagram, (go connect with our account) rooftop apartments, hilltop homes, luxury spas, boutique hotels and exclusive bars, but their design, function and purpose will also complement your home and garden spaces too.

An Opulent Infinity Pool provides an opportunity to be just that little bit closer to nature also – it’s complete submergence and escapes.

How does an Opulent Pools Infinity Swimming Pool Work?

Unlike a traditional swimming pool whereby every side/wall of the pool will be higher than that of the water held within, the construction and engineering of an Opulent Pools, Infinity Pool is completely different…

…An Opulent Infinity Pool will have an edge/s built intentionally to the very same height as the water level.
This edge/s will not be seen and is built on an intentional angle or slope to allow the pool’s water to gently fall away like that of a waterfall.
Fear not, for this water isn’t lost nor wasted – it’s collected by a smartly concealed holding basin or tank purposefully built below the Infinity edge.
The water contained within this holding tank is then pumped back up to the main body of the pool. An Infinity Pool will always remain full.

Is an Opulent Pool Infinity Pool Safe?

Absolutely, an Opulent Pools Infinity Pool is no different in safety to that of a traditional Swimming Pool.
It’s important to keep in mind that the appearance of the disappearing edge is just an optical illusion and visual impression.
When swimming up to an Infinity Pool edge contact will still be made with a wall.

Where can an Opulent Pools Infinity Pool be situated, constructed and installed?

Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London and Kent will carry out a full site survey before any works are ever committed and undertaken.

Our Opulent Pools team of professional and master engineers, builders and designers will recommend, advise, create, assist and construct the Infinity Pool of your most Opulent dreams. However, as with any large project, there will always be many numbers of factors to consider.

Does the potential site for my Infinity Pool need to already naturally slope?

Infinity Pools are generally built fully into the ground where there is a natural slope, however, it’s still possible to achieve this by creating an artificial lean or sculpted slope.

In this instance, an Opulent Pools Infinity Pool is usually designed and constructed either partially or fully above ground instead, so as still to capture the effect of infinitely moving water set in amongst a barrier-free landscape.

Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London, and Kent will always endeavour to present an alternative design solution in the event that your originally desired Swimming Pool may not be structurally viable. Any alternative configured will remain, functional, artistic, exciting and a statement, bespoke build!
Opulent Pools is renowned for creating some of the most stunning Swimming Pools in the South East of the United Kingdom.
An Opulent Pool will ripple with sophistication, ooze in luxury, and add further value to your already adored property.

Can a pre-existing Swimming Pool be turned into an Infinity Pool?

A traditional Swimming Pool, once fully installed, could pose some difficulties to reconfigure. The construction process of an Infinity Pool is different, more intricate, and further technical. However, nothing is impossible with the skill set, approach, and budget that Opulent Pools will carry out and uphold.

Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London and Kent can, with their careful engineering turn any prefabricated or Fibreglass Pool into an Infinity Pool, (more on the specifics of Fibreglass Pools a bit later on).

Therefore, it is possible to choose a pre-cast or pre-moulded Swimming Pool shell and create an Infinity Pool – the options really are infinite!

What will an Infinity Pool Cost?

Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London, and Kent are unable to provide a precise figure for an Infinity Pool here as the cost of each Infinity Pool is unique to both the client’s desires, individual budgets and of course the site upon which it will ultimately reside.

Generally speaking, an Infinity Pool is more expensive than that of a traditional Swimming Pool for a number of contributing factors;

* Infinity Pools require expert skill, knowledge and engineering.
* The build and construction process is far more technical, requiring specialist installation.
* Greater structural work is involved to create the edgeless finish.
* The ground may require further preparation, (as previously mentioned an artificial slope may be needed, implemented and/or sculpted).
* Greater reinforcement works may be required to ensure strength, durability and safety.
* Amendments or customisation may be required to an existing Fibreglass Pool shell.

However, the vast majority of the incurred cost comes directly from the need to create the holding tank/basin. For in effect this holding tank, although hidden, is the equivalent of a second Swimming Pool. The demand on the holding tank/basin is high, for it needs to be able to accommodate approximately one-third of the Infinity Pools overall water capacity.

It is also helpful to keep in mind that the cost of an Infinity Pool will also increase with the number of infinity edges required, again due to the engineering expertise demanded to carry out such works.

If you would like an exquisite Infinity Pool designed, built and installed in/on your grounds, our team here at Opulent Pools of Sussex, Surrey, Essex, London and Kent, are beyond happy to assist you through every critical stage of the process.
