Pool completion alert! Opulent Pools has just delivered one of their most spectacular creations yet in Mayfield, a picturesque village nestled in North East Sussex. This wasn’t just another installation—this was a transformation that would redefine luxury outdoor living.
This project presented an intriguing brief that immediately captured our imagination. Our clients envisioned transforming their neglected vegetable garden into a tranquil oasis, complete with an impressive 11m x 5m swimming pool. For those who follow Opulent Pools’ portfolio, you’ll know we never shy away from ambitious projects—and this one had our creative minds racing from day one.
The first hurdle proved to be a fascinating puzzle. Site access was severely restricted, requiring every single piece of material to be transported over towering garden walls. It’s a common misconception that pool construction follows a standard formula—quite the contrary. Each project presents unique challenges that demand bespoke solutions and innovative thinking.
Following successful excavation, the shuttering phase commenced—a pivotal moment where precision meets artistry. This crucial stage demands absolute accuracy whilst simultaneously offering the first glimpse of the finished masterpiece. The reinforced shell provides an exciting preview of the aquatic paradise taking shape.
The progression continued with expert insulation installation to the walls, followed by dual layers of steel reinforcement. Once these foundations were perfectly positioned, the structure was primed for the concrete pour—a moment where engineering excellence meets architectural vision.
With the concrete shell completed, our team began preparing the surrounding landscape, clearing topsoil and vegetation to accommodate an expansive and impressive paving area. Our signature approach utilises pea shingle around the pool shell for optimal underground water movement, topped with compacted clean crushed limestone as the paving foundation—a technique we’ve perfected for both practical performance and aesthetic excellence.
The meticulous process continued with sub-base installation around the pool perimeter and completion of all rendered surfaces, creating the perfect foundation for the stunning tilework to follow.
These weren’t ordinary pool steps—they featured full-length bench integration, creating an additional social focal point whilst adding a distinctly modern aesthetic. Function and beauty merged seamlessly in this thoughtful design element.
The tiling phase represents our labour of love—countless meticulous hours that culminate in breathtaking results. The fully mosaic pattern, adorned with luxury Ezarri tiles, creates a visual symphony that transforms water into liquid art.
Our passion for natural sawn sandstone shines through in this installation. This authentic material provides an exquisite finish whilst we strategically create concealed drainage channels—invisible infrastructure that maintains the clean, sophisticated aesthetic.
The pièce de résistance—with paving complete and the pool filled to perfection! A picture-perfect aquatic sanctuary that left our clients absolutely delighted and the entire Opulent Pools team justifiably proud.
